Stanley Park Tree Fund
Stanley Park has been the feature location for many of the photos that we have enjoyed in our last two CD desktop Calendars. This is by no mistake; Stanley Park is a blessing to all those that live in Vancouver. It provides an escape from our hectic daily routines: it is a wild and natural ecosystem at our doorstep, it is home to many who enjoy walking, running, cycling, rollerblading, rugby, etc., and it provides Vancouver with a breath of fresh oxygenated air all year round. I remember visiting the ducks in Lost Lagoon with my mom and dad as a child almost every summer weekend and walking through the trails, the beaches, etc. Today I run around the seawall 2 to 3 times a week. Each time I visit this wonderous place and comment how truly lucky we are to have such an escape so close to home.
As you are all aware, our beloved park has been hit hard in the last few storms turning over 3000 trees on their side and resulting in immense damage to the infrastructure of the park and its services that we rely so heavily on.
The Vancouver Park Board has setup a fund called the “Stanley Park Tree Fund” where you can donate to the rebuilding of the park. I will be donating to this fund and I encourage all Vancouverites who enjoy Stanley Park to make a personal donation, no matter how small.

Make a gift to the restoration of the park
Stanley Park, Vancouver's first and best-loved park and major attraction for residents and visitors, was hit by a devastating wind storm on Friday, December 15, 2006 that caused extensive damage and the loss of thousands of trees. Park Board staff have been working tirelessly to clean up and restore access to the park.
In response to this situation, members of the public have been inquiring into ways in which they can assist with the restoration of the park. The Vancouver Park Board is gratefully accepting donations for the restoration of Stanley Park.
